Young Persons Employment Initiative


The Young Persons Employment Initiative is a 10 week employability programme for 18 to 24 year olds who are not in employment, education or training. It is individually tailored to each participant needs to overcome barriers to employment and progress to sustainable employment, further education or training.  The programme, which is part funded by the European Union and the Department for the Economy and aims to assist 400 participants between April 2018 and March 2022.

Programme Summary

The Young Persons Employment Initiative supports participants by providing employability training, personal support, advice, mentoring and use of our job search facilities. We engage with a wide range of public and private sector employers to provide work experience and job opportunities for our clients.

  • Between 18-24 years of age
  • Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET)
  • Not participating on any other ESF programme or Steps to Success
  • Living in the Greater Belfast or Newtownabbey areas
